corporate event management maltaThe Maltese archipelago is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean, with the largest inhabited island, Malta, lying 58 miles south of Sicily and 180 miles from North Africa. The landscape is characterised by low hills with terraced fields.

Malta has no mountains or rivers and its coastline is indented with harbours, bays, creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves, while in the towns, medieval walled citadels and splendid baroque churches and palaces reflect the rich history of the island.

This small sun-soaked island's character and culture have been influenced by centuries of invasion. Its history can be traced back to 2000 BC and since then dominance of its strategic position has been sought by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, the Knights of St. John, Turks, French and latterly the British, whose influence can still be felt today.

Long popular with tourists, as well as conference organisers, Malta has seen dynamic improvements over the last few years to its facilities and infrastructure. There is an enormous choice of restaurants, clubs and bars, where fish dishes are particularly recommended and the vegetables are excellent. Lively nightlife consists of a number of discotheques as well as the Dragonara casino.

For those keen on shopping, special purchases include Malta weave, pottery, glass, ceramics, copper and brass items. Malta is also renowned for its gold and silver filigree work and handmade lace.

Most of the larger hotels are situated on the outskirts of the busiest town on the island. In one square mile you can find all types of entertainment including bars, restaurants, cinemas, 10-pin bowling alley, and many lively discos for all age groups. Numerous bars and restaurants play live music and have varied shows on offer. A fairly quiet town during the day but really comes alive at night.
